Вариант описания на английском:

In the course of his career F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote 120 stories, and his short fiction helped him become one of the highest-paid writers in America. The Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald, selected and with an introduction and notes by Malcolm Cowley, contains the best of Fitzgerald's short stories, from Flappers and Philosophers (1920) to Taps at Reveille (1935), and it includes seven pieces Fitzgerald wrote after his crack-up. Early stories such as "Bernice Bobs Her Hair" reveal Fitzgerald's skill at capturing the fashion of the times, while such later ones as "The Lost Decade" emerge as sober reflections on his own youthful excesses. Still others—"May Day," "Absolution," and "Crazy Sunday"—foreshadow his novels The Beautiful and Damned, The Great Gatsby, and The Last Tycoon. Taken together the twenty-eight stories in this volume compose a vivid picture of an era and a moving autobiography of one of the most popular American writers of the early twentieth century who "remains an exemplar and archetype," Malcolm Cowley concludes, "but not of the 1920s alone; in the end he represents the human spirit in one of its permanent forms."
